Terms & Conditions

Full payment for registration fees must be received prior to the event or training course. If you are not able to attend, please contact us in writing and we will work with you to find a new date or transfer your booking to a colleague or other contact. This excludes courses which require pre-requisites including NABERSNZ Assessor, Homestar Designer and HomeFit Assessor courses.

If you cannot transfer your booking or if no future dates are suitable, a full refund may be provided where our event manager receives notification in writing at least ten business days before the date of the event or course. If less than 10 business days notice of cancellation or transfer is provided then we are unable to provide a refund.

Course materials, venue hire, refreshments etc are paid in advance of the event or course so there can be no exceptions to this rule.

Refunds will not be given in any other circumstances except as required by law.

Please note that the NZGBC reserves the right to cancel an event if minimum numbers are not reached. Similarly, the NZGBC reserves the right to change the venue of an event.

As a not-for-profit, we trust that you will understand that if for reasons beyond our control, an event is cancelled, the registration fee will be refunded after deduction of expenses already incurred by NZGBC.

Please note that for all major events including our Housing Summit and Green Property Summit, this cancellation period is extended with refunds only available when at least one month’s notice is provided.

Please note our participation guidelines below. NZGBC reserves the right to refuse entry or to remove from the premises any persona at their sole and absolute discretion

By registering for an event or course, and supplying your contact details you agree to:

  • Follow our event and course participation guidelines
  • Follow the above policy regarding refunds, cancellations and reassignment of registrations
  • Being added to the NZGBC email mailing list from which you may unsubscribe at any time

Cancellation, postponement or moving online

We appreciate your support and understanding during these times. Like you, we enjoy the opportunity to get together kanohi ki te kanohi (in person) however if situations change and government restrictions on event numbers and / or locations change, we may be forced to take an event online, postpone or cancel.

Where it is not possible to honour in person attendance, an event may be delivered online. NZGBC will work to offer a percentage of your ticket price as a refund. This percentage will recognise costs saved for catering and onsite costs while also deducting costs already incurred.

If due to government restrictions, an event or course needs to be cancelled with no online alternative, you will be offered a refund less any expenses already incurred.

Event participation guidelines

NZGBC events and courses draw on the knowledge of expert presenters and aim to encourage open discussion and information-sharing. Please note, the information and opinions expressed in these presentations may not represent the official views or opinions of the New Zealand Green Building Council (NZGBC). We encourage active participation and sharing of ideas at these forums. The moderator will inform the attendees of the format of the sessions and opportunities for participation.

To create a positive environment, we request the following guidelines are strictly adhered to:

  • Treat other attendees with respect
  • Provide comments/feedback/suggestions in a professional manner
  • Refrain from using specific company/brand names
  • Refrain from making disparaging remarks about individuals, companies and/or their products
  • No promoting of products and/or services (except for event sponsors)

For both in person and virtual events, any behaviour that may be considered by organisers as inappropriate, harassment, bullying intimidation, unsuitable, aggressive, offensive or persecutes attendees and stakeholders will not be tolerated. This may lead to comments, questions or posts on event engagement technology or other social media platforms being moderated and, in some cases removed.

Event and course attendees are expected to act in a responsible manner with regard to alcohol consumption. NZGBC reserves the right to remove any attendees considered to be acting irresponsibly without refund.

By registering to an NZGBC event or training course, you are confirming consent for any video and photographs taken which may be used for promotional purposes, social media or other.
