HomeFit

New Zealand homes aren't good enough. All too often, they are cold, draughty, expensive to heat, and make us, our friends and our whanau sick.

The New Zealand Green Building Council is a not-for-profit organisation, working to make sure that all New Zealanders are safe, healthy and happy at home. That's why we have developed HomeFit - because we believe it's going to make our homes better.

HomeFit is a no-nonsense, straightforward way to check if a home is warm, safe and dry, and it works in two easy ways.

“I think the HomeFit certification standards are a fair and reasonable goal for all Kiwi homes. It’s certainly achievable with some effort, and the long-term benefits of healthy and fit homes are worth it,”

Ra Dejardine, Wellington property owner

HomeFit online check

There's a simple online check, designed especially for Kiwis looking at homes to buy or rent. By answering some easy questions with a few clicks on your screen, as you stroll around, say, an open home, you can see immediately if it's a warm, dry, healthy place to live - and what you can do to fix it if it isn't. This is a great guide, but won't, by itself, result in a HomeFit stamp.
